The Tumi collection of fair trade crafts encompasses the best of what the Latin American continent has to offer. The range includes alpaca wool accessories from the Andes, cotton bags and purses from Guatemala; recycled glassware from Mexico; jewellery from Mexico, Peru and Ecuador; recycled tin figures, mirrors, paintings and tiles from Mexico; a wide range of musical instruments from various countries including the berimbau from Brazil; genuine Panama hats from Ecuador; a wide range of rustic pottery from Mexico including many pre-Hispanic replicas; hammocks; soft furnishings and a lot more. In the last few years Tumi has also been working with fair trade crafts from India importing glass beads, silk scarves, jute bags and other items.

Alongside the wholesale distribution of fair trade crafts Tumi has always had a strong cultural identity, organising various exhibitions over the years. One such exhibition, The Weavers of Ancient Peru, was staged at the Commonwealth Institute in 1985 and included 2 Peruvian weavers demonstrating their weaving techniques throughout the exhibition.

Another exhibition at the Royal Photographic Society in Bath showcased Mo’s collection of black and white photographs, accompanied by a book entitled Portrait of Latin America. Other books include The Arts and Crafts of South America, published by Thames and Hudson and The Dictionary of Cuban Music by Helio Oruvio and Mo Fini. Mo also produced a documentary film about the last family of pure Incas entitled Q’ero-In Search the Last of the Incas as well as other educational videos.

Over the years Tumi has also received various awards including the World Award for Effective Communication from the Centre for World Development Education in London. Mo was also short-listed for the World Vision Award by the same organisation.

Tumi is a fair trade importer and long term member of Bafts, the British Association of Fair Trade shops. The wholesale website has a Tumi gallery of photographs taken by Mo Fini over the years of artisans in Latin America making Tumi products.
